THE ROCK IN D2 OPENERS
As one would expect from one of the top programs in the region, Slippery Rock has historically performed impressively in its first matches of the year against fellow Division II competition. The Rock have won six straight Division II openers and is 7-3 over the last decade in their first D2 contests of a season. 
 
RECORDS / LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock has opened the team portion of its 2021-22 season with a pair of first-time wins in program history as SRU has defeated both Division III power Carnegie Mellon University and Division I St. Bonaventure University with matching 4-3 results to go with a loss at D1 Cleveland State sandwiched between the two marquee wins.
 
Ashland will bring a 1-1 record into Saturday's match courtesy of a 6-1 win over Franciscan and a 6-1 loss to Northwood. 
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
Slippery Rock is 3-1 against Ashland all-time, but the two teams have not played since 2018. No active roster members from either The Rock or Eagles participated in the last meeting between the two schools.

PAGE MAKES HISTORY
Lois Page picked up wins at both No. 1 singles and first flight doubles with Adriana Gonzalez Sanchez against St. Bonaventure and in the process became just the 13th athlete in program history to record at least 100 career victories while climbing into a three-way tie with Melissa Labosco (1994-97) and Carla Corrochano Moracho (2014-17) for 11th place on The Rock's career wins list.
 
Page needs 10 more wins to move into to a tie for 10th place in wins at The Rock alongside Dunja Drmac, who won 111 matches from 2009-12.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
• Slippery Rock owes a large portion of its success early on this season to its strong singles lineup that has been able to overcome losing the team doubles point to post two victories in its first three matches of the season against what has been great competition.
 
• Lois Page enters the Ashland match at 9-4 overall and 2-1 in dual match bouts from her spot atop The Rock's lineup. Gabriela del Val del Toro has matched Page's record this season with a 9-4 mark of her own overall to go with a 2-1 showing in third flight dual matches.
 
• The back portion of Slippery Rock's singles lineup has also been a point of pride early on as both Teddi Isherwood and Zoe Heed are 2-1 when competing out of the fifth and sixth flights, respectively. Isherwood is third on the team in total singles wins via a 7-3 mark thus far during her freshman campaign.
 
• Rounding out Slippery Rock's standard singles rotation has been Adriana Gonzalez Sanchez (4-7, 0-3), the 2021 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Athlete of the Year, in the second flight and Nuria Martin Lopez (4-6, 1-2) in the fourth slot. 
 
• Page and Gonzalez Sanchez, the No. 25 team in all of Division II, will bring a 5-6 overall record and a 1-2 dual match record into Saturday's contest.
 
• Heed and Isherwood have combined to go 1-2 at No. 2 doubles while del Val del Toro has split time with both Lopez and Georgie Lancaster in the third flight.
 
A PROGRAM OF SUSTAINED EXCELLENCE
Few programs have been as consistent as Slippery Rock has under head coach Matt Meredith. Dating back to the 2000-01 season, SRU has won 65.1 percent of its matches, had 18 winning seasons while making 14 PSAC Tournament appearances and earning 16 NCAA Tournament bids.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
• The quartet of Gabriella Hudec (0-2), Kortney Reed (1-1), Claudia Adcock (2-0) and Alice Adin (1-1) have been a part of Ashland's singles lineup in both of its matches this season. Hudec and Adcock have played out of the first and fourth flights, respectively, in both matches while Reed and Adin have competed throughout the lineup.
 
• Lydia Bice (0-1), Kristyn Conrad (1-0), Josie Gorges (0-1) and Huntyr Lake (1-0) have also represented Ashland in dual match singles contests this year.
 
• In doubles competition, Adcock and Hudec have partnered to go 1-1 from the first flight while Reed and Bice are 1-1 while splitting time in the second and third flights.
