SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team had its five-game winning streak snapped in a 92-70 loss to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division competitor Shippensburg University on the road Saturday.

With the loss, The Rock's record moves to 6-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference while the Raiders improve to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC.

Isabellah Middleton led SRU's efforts with a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds. Three other Rock players ended the night with double-digit points in
Kennedy Middleton (12),
Kristina Donza (11) and
Jada Ward (10).

Kennedy Middleton rounded out her stat line with five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Donza finished the contest tallying two rebounds and two steals. Ward came off the bench and collected four rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Rounding out SRU point scorers were
Bella Long (8 points),
Arianna Mitchell (2 points) and
Kaylin Venick (2 points).

The Rock posted their second consecutive game, and fourth overall this season, making double-digit steals with 11. Aiding in the takeaways were Donza (2),

Kaylin Venick (2), Ward (1), Mitchell (1) and
Emily Venick (1).

Slippery Rock traded baskets with Shippensburg through the opening quarter with neither team leading by more than three points resulting in a one-point Rock advantage (17-16) through the opening 10 minutes of action.

SRU jumped out on a 7-2 run in the opening minutes of the second quarter however, the Raiders ended the quarter on a 13-5 spurt of their own to take a 39-34 lead into halftime.

Coming out of the break, The Rock were unable to overcome the deficit through the remaining two quarters as Shippensburg outscored Slippery Rock 24-12 in the third, stretching its lead out to 16-points at 63-47 at the conclusion of the period.

The Raiders would extend their lead to as many as 22-points over the final quarter en route to an eventual 92-70 Shippensburg victory.

Slippery Rock concluded the game shooting 41.5 percent (27-of-65) from the floor, 40.7 percent (11-of-27) from long range and 50 percent (5-of-10) from the foul line. The Rock have now shot above 40 percent from the floor in four of its eight contests this season.

As a team, the Raiders shot 51.6 percent (33-of-64) overall, 33.3 percent (3-of-9) from 3-point range and 67.6 percent (23-of-34) from the charity stripe.

Shippensburg out-rebounded SRU 46-31 in addition to prompting The Rock into 23 turnovers while making 18 miscues of its own. SU scored 26 points off of The Rock's turnovers. Pacing the Raiders was Lauren Pettis and Ariel Jones with respective double-doubles of 20 points, 12 rebounds and 19 points, 11 rebounds.Â

Slippery Rock will break for two weeks before continuing PSAC crossover competition against Mansfield University 1 p.m. Dec. 18 and Bloomsburg University 1 p.m. Dec. 19 at Morrow Field House.
