MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - All six members of the Slippery Rock University women's tennis team won at least one match on day one of the ITA Atlantic Region Championships Saturday.

Heading into day two of the annual individual tournament, which consists of the best athletes in the region, The Rock's Lois Page, Adriana Gonzalez Sanchez, Gabriela del Val del Toro, Teddi Isherwood, Georgie Lancaster and Nuria Martin Lopez are all alive in at least one of the four tournaments being conducted over the three-day event.

Slippery Rock will send three competitors into the third round of the Championship singles bracket, two teams into the quarterfinals of the Championship doubles bracket, two athletes into the "B" Singles bracket and one team into the "B" Doubles bracket quarterfinals.

In the Championship singles bracket, Page, the tournament's fourth seed opened the day with a first-round bye before defeating West Chester's Davica Massaro 6-3, 6-2 to set up a match against Arnal West of West Liberty in the Round of 16 on Sunday.

Seventh-seeded Sanchez also enjoyed a first-round bye followed by a convincing win against Mercyhurst's Naomi Jahr 6-0, 6-1. Sanchez will meet Katy Graydon of Indiana (Pa.) in the Round of 16.

Lopez came out of her opening-round bye to shutout Tori Alexander of West Chester 6-0, 6-0. The victory sends Lopez into the Round of 16 for a match against Charleston's Prinkle Singh, the tournament's top overall seed.

Also competing in the Championship singles bracket was del Val del Toro, who downed Mercyhurst's Roisin Murphy 6-2, 6-3 in the first round, but lost to West in the second round 6-2, 6-3.

The Rock's success carried over into the Championship doubles bracket as the pairings of Sanchez / Page and del Val del Toro / Teddi Isherwood both advanced to Saturday's quarterfinal round.

As the tournament's No. 1 seed, Page and Sanchez received a bye on the way to defeating Alexander and Elaina Lee, 8-3. The Rock's top doubles team will face Bluefield State's Juliana Jimenez and Shreya Chakraborty in the quarterfinals.

Isherwood and del Val del Toro also came out of their bye in fine fashion courtesy of a 9-7 win against Charleston's lexiAnn Drouin and Meggan William. The first-year pairing will now play Idoia Huerta and Lydia Vlachou of IUP for the right to advance to the semifinals.

Isherwood followed up her doubles success by defeating Aida Montero (Charleston), 7-6 (4), 6-0 in the second round of the "B" Singles bracket. She will meet West Liberty's Ishika Agarwal in the third round.

Lancaster began her day with a quality 6-0, 6-1 win over Frostburg State's Madison Toothman followed by a 6-3, 7-6 besting of IUP's Abby Jones to force a third-round showdown with Carter Nettina of Davis & Elkins.

Slippery Rock concluded its day with more success as Lopez and Lancaster partnered to beat Millersville's team of Kaitlyn Then and Chloe Abramowitz, 9-2. Their quest for a championship continues Saturday with a quarterfinal match against Ishika Agarwal and Kavya Singh.
