The Slippery Rock men’s soccer team earned a 2-0 road victory over Shepherd Saturday afternoon.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team earned a 2-0 road victory over Shepherd University Saturday afternoon.

With the win SRU improves to 3-2-2 overall while remaining undefeated on the road this season. Shepherd falls to 1-6-0 overall in the loss.

The Rock was led on offense by Joey Moeller and Mo Kanani. Moeller netted his first goal of the season in the opening 25 minutes of the first half on an assist by Anthony Gagliardi II while Alejandro Fernandez set up Kanani's goal with a free kick ball. Fernandez now leads The Rock in total points on the season with seven points on two goals and three assists.

Hossam Aly played the entirety of Saturdays match making three saves and allowing no goals to secure the shutout victory.

Slippery Rock emerged as the aggressors in the first half of play. Following the Moeller goal in the 25th minute, The Rock posted four additional shots in the first half with three being on goal testing Ram's goalkeeper Billy Wood. Defensively in the first 45 minutes, SRU was able to hold Shepherd to one shot that was saved by Aly.

Out of the break, the Rams fired an early shot in the 50th minute which Aly stopped. After back-to-back offsides calls on The Rock, they earned a free kick opportunity that Kanani capitalized off of from the foot of Fernandez to put SRU up 2-0.

The Slippery Rock offense continued to attack by posting six more shots while the defense settled in as Aly collected another as well as the team making a save when a ball was sent out of the reach of Aly, leaving the Rams scoreless at the conclusion of play.

The Rock held the advantages over the Rams in total shots (13-7), shots on goal (9-4) and corner kicks (2-1).
