PITTSBURGH - All six members of the Slippery Rock University women's tennis team continued the individual portion of their 2021 seasons Saturday at the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational.

Just as they did a week ago at the Oberlin Invitational, Slippery Rock was once again paced by the combination of
Gabriela del Val del Toro and
Teddi Isherwood. Both athletes went 1-1 in singles matches as well as compiling a 1-1 doubles mark as a team.

In singles competition, Isherwood defeated Carnegie Mellon's Megan Qiang (6-4, 1-6, 11-9) before losing to Anoek Pruijmboom of Division I Saint Francis, 8-1. Meanwhile, del Val del Toro downed SFU's Anouk Ma-Ajong, 8-1, in addition to a narrow 6-4, 6-1 setback to Bin Zheng of CMU.

As a team, del Val del Toro and Isherwood combined to upend Carnegie Mellon's Julieta Ruiz and Ola Wojciak, 8-4, while dropping an 8-4 contest to Division Duquesne's Daniela Latoni and Natasha Novak.

Adriana Gonzalez Sanchez,
Georgie Lancaster,
Nuria Martin Lopez and
Lois Page all took part in the CMU Invite as well. Page and Gonzalez Sanchez both lost their lone singles matches while also going 0-2 in doubles bouts as a team.

Lancaster and Martin Lopez also suffered two doubles defeats to go with a pair of losses in singles contests as well.

Slippery Rock continues the individual portion of its 2021 season Sept. 25-27 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Atlantic Region Championships in Millersville, Pennsylvania.
