GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University field hockey team recorded one of the top offensive performances in program history as part of an 8-0 road victory at Seton Hill University Saturday.

Slippery Rock improves to 3-2 on the season with the non-conference win while the Griffins fall to 1-5 in 2021.

Saturday's goal barrage is tied for the third highest single-game scoring total in program history. SRU also scored eight goals against Westminster (1981), Fredonia (1995) and Frostburg State (2019). The school record for goals in a game is 11 against Washington & Jefferson in 2001.

The senior duo of
Jessie Trube and
Lauren Marks led the onslaught Saturday with two goals apiece.

The quartet of
Nadia Irving,
Leslie Colliver,
Jordyn Isner and
Bailee Christman also posted multi-point days as well. Isner scored one goal and assisted on two others with Christman, Colliver and Irving all registering a goal and an assist.
Erin Roland rounded out The Rock's attack against Seton Hill with one assist.

For the game, Slippery Rock held commanding advantages over Seton Hill in total shots (22-3), shots on goal (19-0) and penalty corners (10-2). Isner and Marks accounted for eight of The Rock's 19 shots on goal with four apiece. Trube, Roland and Colliver all chipped in two shots on target.

Defensively, Slippery Rock did not allow a shot on goal as goalkeepers
Grace Burker and
Hannah Nurse each played a half in the combined shutout.

SRU jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first quarter off of goals from Irving (6:30) and Colliver (11:02). The second quarter saw The Rock score two more goals when Isner (16:54) and Trube (29:01) made it a 4-0 game heading into halftime.

Marks opened the second half with her first goal of the game in the 40th minute before The Rock closed out the victory with three fourth-quarter goals by Christman (48:42), Marks again at 53:38 and in the 56th minute.

With her two goals Saturday, Trube now has five goals in 2021 and 17 over her career, which ranks 10th on The Rock's career goals list. Isner's two-assist day propelled her to a team-best four assists on the year.

Slippery Rock will look to earn its third consecutive victory when it hosts Indiana University (Pa.) 2 p.m. Sunday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium on International Students Day.
