Rock drops two at No. 7 Seton Hill

The Slippery Rock baseball team was swept in a PSAC West doubleheader at seventh-ranked Seton Hill Tuesday.

GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University baseball team was swept in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division doubleheader at seventh-ranked Seton Hill University Tuesday.

Following an 11-0 victory in the opener, the nationally ranked Griffins completed the sweep with a 6-1 win in game two. The losses drop Slippery Rock's record to 16-9 overall and 7-7 in league games while Seton Hill improves to 21-2 overall and 13-2 in the PSAC West.

The highlight of the day for Slippery Rock came from its bullpen as relief pitcher Colby Anderson appeared in both games for what was his collegiate debut. Anderson pitched 2.1 innings over the two games without surrendering a run or a hit to go with four strikeouts.

GAME ONE: Seton Hill 11 – Slippery Rock 0
Seton Hill scored 10 runs over the opening three innings in game one on the way to its 11-0 victory.

Quentin Brown recorded The Rock's lone hit of the opener while Alex Robenolt also reached base via walk.

Drew Delaney (0-1) made his first collegiate start before being relieved in the first inning for JT Wolke, who proceeded to pitch the next 2.2 frames. Zach Hernon made his Slippery Rock debut when he came on for Wolke in the fourth. He went on to throw the next 1.2 innings prior to giving way to Anderson, who closed out the contest with a pair of strikeouts over 1.1 innings of scoreless work.

Reigning PSAC West Athlete of the Week Isiah DiAndreth went 2-for-3 with three RBI to pace Seton Hill while starting pitcher Jared Kollar (3-0) picked up the win after striking out eight batters and yielding one hit and a walk over four innings of work.

GAME TWO: Seton Hill 6 – Slippery Rock 1
A five-run fourth inning for Seton Hill proved to be the difference in a 6-1 SHU victory in game two.

Slippery Rock struck first as Robenolt doubled to lead off the second inning and later scored courtesy of a run-scoring single by Colin Cain to give The Rock an early 1-0 lead.

However, Owen Sabol tied the contest in the bottom of frame via a solo home run and Seton Hill went on to break the contest open in the fourth as Jordan Fiedor highlighted a five-run showing for SHU with a grand slam as the Griffins claimed the 6-1 win in game two.

Robenolt, Cain, Abraham Mow, Connor Hamilton and Evan Knaus all had hits for The Rock with Cain registering an RBI.

Andrew Shivak (1-1) was the pitcher of record for The Rock. Shivak worked out of trouble early on by forcing Seton Hill into double plays in each of the first three innings before leaving the game with the bases loaded in the fourth prior to Fiedor's grand slam.

Christian Seelhorst was the first pitcher out of SRU's bullpen in game two. He allowed two runs in one inning pitched. The combination of Anderson and Joe Dombrowski finished out the day for SRU with matching scoreless innings.

Seton Hill used three pitchers the nightcap with Peyton Reesman (1-0) earning the win after scattering two hits over three shutout innings.

Slippery Rock will look to bounce back from Tuesday's losses when it opens an important four-game PSAC West series against Mercyhurst University with a doubleheader Friday at Jack Critchfield Park. First pitch of game one is set for 1 p.m.
