SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University baseball team lost two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division games Saturday at Jack Critchfield Park to Clarion University.
The Golden Eagles narrowly edged The Rock in game one, 8-7, before taking game two 7-3.

Slippery Rock (8-15, 1-9) was led on the day by
Joe Campagna, who combined to go 5-for-7 with two runs scored, four RBI, one home run and one double.
Campagna, who is tied for the team lead in home runs with three, has reached base safely in all 23 games this season.

Frankie Jezioro also extended his hitting streak to 13 games after registering hits in both games Saturday. Â Â Â

GAME ONE: Clarion 8 – Slippery Rock 7
Slippery Rock and Clarion traded runs early on before SRU edged out to a one-run lead entering the sixth inning only for the Golden Eagles to rattle off three runs in a decisive frame that paved the way for an 8-7 victory.

Campagna led the way offensively for SRU in the opener, going 2-for-4 with one run scored, three RBI and a home run.
Abraham Mow also launched a home run, his third of the season, in addition to scoring two runs and driving in two more.

Jon Kozarian also racked up a multi-hit outing at 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored.
Joe Sibeto accounted for two of The Rock's eight hits with as well while Jezioro produced a hit to go with two walks and two runs scored.

Tanner Stanz (2-2) took the loss for SRU after allowing eight runs on 10 hits over four innings.
Derek Boben came on in relief of Stanz. He scattered two hits and allowed just one inherited runner to score over three innings.

Clarion led Slippery Rock 5-4 heading into the fourth before The Rock posted two runs in the in bottom of the inning by way of by way of back-to-back bases-loaded walks that gave SRU a 6-5 lead.

However, The Rock's lead was short-lived as Clarion went for three runs in the fifth to re-take the lead, 8-6. Following a scoreless sixth frame, Slippery Rock appeared poised to win the game when it loaded the bases with just one out, but Clarion pitcher Dereck Pritchard was able to get out of the jam by allowing just one run to score to preserve the 8-7 victory.

GAME TWO: Clarion 7 – Slippery Rock 3
Clarion scored six consecutive runs in game two and never looked back on the way to a 7-3 victory.

Campagna went 3-for-3 with one run scored, one RBI and one walk. Jezioro, Mow and
Colin Cain all had base hits as well in the defeat with Mow and Cain also driving in runs.

Ryan Tapp (0-4) took the loss for The Rock after giving up four runs on four hits and four walks while striking out five batters.
Andy McClymonds pitched the final four innings, giving up three runs, only one of which was earned, on three hits and two walks. He tossed four strikeouts as well.

Slippery Rock scored runs in the fourth and fifth via RBI-hits from Cain and Campagna in addition to another run in the seventh on a Mow run-scoring single. However, SRU never seriously threatened Clarion's early lead as the Golden Eagles hung on for a four-run victory.

Slippery Rock and Clarion will finish off its four-game series with a doubleheader Sunday at Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park in Butler, Pennsylvania. First pitch of game one is set for 1 p.m.
