The Slippery Rock baseball team earned a doubleheader split against Seton Hill on Tuesday. The Rock dropped game one, 12-7, but bounced back to record a 5-2 victory in game two.

BUTLER, Pa. - The Slippery Rock baseball team earned a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division doubleheader split against Seton Hill University on Tuesday at Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park.

The Rock dropped game one, 12-7, but bounced back to record a 5-2 victory in game two. Slippery Rock's win in game two snapped its seven-game losing streak and improved its record to 7-12 overall and 1-7 in the PSAC West. Seton Hill exits the split at 13-12 overall and 5-3 in league games.

Five players recorded hits in both games for The Rock on Tuesday.

Leadoff hitter Frankie Jezioro, who is on a nine-game hitting streak, went 4-for-8 with two runs scored, two stolen bases, a double and one walk. Ray Scala drove in four runs on three hits, one of which being his first collegiate home run, in addition to scoring two runs.

Joe Campagna was a combined 4-for-7 with two runs scored and one RBI. Campagna has now reached base safely in all 19 games this season. Colin Cain was also 4-for-7 to go with three RBI, one run scored and one double. Jon Kozarian was the final Rock player to tally hits in both games, going 3-for-6 with one RBI and one run scored.

GAME ONE: SETON HILL 12 – SLIPPERY ROCK 7
Slippery Rock racked up its third highest hit total of the season and held a one-run lead through five innings, but couldn't quite hang on as Seton Hill rallied back by scoring six runs over the final two innings to earn a 12-7 victory in the opener.

Seven Rock players combined to produce 14 hits. Jezioro and Alex Robenolt both totaled three hits with Jezioro scoring twice and stealing a pair of bases while Robenolt scored two runs as well while also hitting his first collegiate home run.

Scala, Campagna and Kozarian came away with two-hit outings. Scala drove in three runs. The trio of Tyler Merigliano, Cain and Campagna all had one RBI apiece.

Luke Trueman (0-2) made his first start of the season. He went six innings, allowing nine runs on 10 hits and a walk in addition to striking out six batters. Alex Worthington pitched the seventh inning and surrendered three runs, all of which were unearned.

The Griffins led 6-4 after three innings before Slippery Rock stormed back with three straight runs by way of a two-run single in fourth by Scala and a two-out solo home run off the bat of Robenolt in the fifth.

However, Seton Hill took the lead back in the sixth when Adam Bankovich hit a two-run home run and Ryan Grieco, who reached base on an error, scored later in the inning on a wild pitch before SRU could get out of the inning with SHU leading 9-7.

Seton Hill went on to add three unearned runs in the seventh while SHU reliever Ben Vicini stranded two runners on base in the bottom of the frame to close out the 12-7 win.

GAME TWO: SLIPPERY ROCK 5 – SETON HILL 2
Slippery Rock parlayed a strong pitching performance by freshman Andy McClymonds and senior Wyatt Daugherty with timely hitting to earn a 5-2 win in game two and ensure the doubleheader split.

McClymonds (1-0), who was making his third appearance and first collegiate start, picked up his first victory of 2019 after holding Seton Hill to two runs on four hits and one walk over four innings of work. He also struck out four Griffins.

McClymonds gave way to Daugherty in the fifth inning. The veteran reliver went on to throw three scoreless innings to preserve SRU's lead and earn his fourth save of the season. Daugherty now has 18 career saves, the fifth most in PSAC history.

Cain supplied Slippery Rock with a 3-for-3, one-run, two-RBI performance in game two. After 81 games played in a Rock uniform, Scala belted his first collegiate home run to help secure the win. Campagna (two hits), Jezioro (one hit, one walk), Kozarian (one hit) and Joe Sibeto (one walk) rounded out Slippery Rock's top performers.

Seton Hill broke a scoreless tie after two innings with a pair of runs in the third only for The Rock to answer back in the bottom of the inning via Scala's solo homer.

The rest of the game belonged to Slippery Rock as SRU plated two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings while Daugherty kept the Seton Hill offense in check en route to a 5-2 victory.

Trueman gave SRU an RBI-groundout in the fourth to tie the game followed later in the frame by a Kozarian RBI-single that plated what turned out to be the game-winning run. The Rock's runs in the fifth came on a two-run single by Cain.
