SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team lost on the road to Seton Hill University, 97-80, Saturday afternoon at the McKenna Center in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division defeat drops The Rock's record to 9-13 overall and 7-9 in league games. With the win, the Griffins improve to 15-8 overall and 9-7 in the PSAC West.

Slippery Rock trailed by 11 points, 46-35, after two quarters of play, but stormed out of the halftime break with an impressive 19-8 run to tie the game at 54-54 with 3:54 remaining in the third quarter. Five Rock players scored points during the run with the spurt being led by
Brooke Hinderliter, who posted eight points over the stretch.

Seton Hill dashed The Rock's hope of comeback by scoring 15 of the period's final 21 points to close out the period and take a 69-60 advantage into the fourth quarter. Slippery Rock was unable to rattle off another big run over the final 10 minutes as Seton Hill steadily extended its lead throughout the final quarter on the way to its 17-point victory.

Hinderliter had a marquee game offensively, finishing with 28 points on 12-of-18 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 at the foul line to go with four rebounds, three of which came on the offensive glass. The 28 points was the fourth highest single-game output of her career.

Morgan Henderson tallied her sixth double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds in addition to blocking one shot. Henderson exits the weekend ranked first in the PSAC in rebounding at 8.9 rpg.

Daeja Quick just missed out on a double-double of her own after turning in a 14-point, nine-rebound, four-assist, two-steal effort.
Ciara Patterson was the fourth Rock player to finish in double figures with 15 points. She also added one steal and one block.

LeeAnn Gibson (seven points),
Madison Johnson (three) and
Skyla O'Connor (two) rounded out The Rock's scorers with Johnson and Gibson each grabbing three rebounds apiece as well.

Slippery Rock played well offensively as a whole overall, shooting 43.1 percent (31-for-72) from the field and 78.9 percent (15-for-19) at the free throw line while committing just 10 turnovers. The Rock's 80 points were the second most scored in a game by SRU this season.

However, Slippery Rock allowed the Griffins to shoot 49.3 percent (33-for-67) overall and make a game-changing nine 3-pointers. Seton Hill also connected on 22-of-28 free throw attempts, committed only eight turnovers and out-rebounded The Rock 43-37. SHU had six players score at least 10 points. Megan Marecic led the way with 21 points. Â

Slippery Rock will look to bounce back from Saturday's loss when it returns home to host Mercyhurst University 5:30 p.m. Feb. 13. The game will serve as The Rock's annual "White Out Night".
