GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team cruised to a 2-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division road victory over Seton Hill University Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Slippery Rock improves to 11-2-0 overall with a 10-1-0 record in the PSAC West while Seton Hill falls to 5-7-0 and 5-5-0 in conference play.

SRU was led on offense by
Jordyn Minda who finished the afternoon with a goal and an assist  while
Katy Ericson opened the scoring attack for SRU in the 44th minute on her first goal of the season.

The contest started as a defensive battle between The Rock and the Griffins. Seton Hill defended the first seven SRU shots including two saves by SHU goalkeeper Grace Kenyon. The Rock defense matched the Seton Hill effort, turning away five shots by SHU including two saves by Rock keeper
Emma Yoder.

SRU broke through on offense just before halftime when Ericson netted her first goal of 2019 on a pass from Minda in the 44th minute, giving Slippery Rock a 1-0 advantage.

The Griffin offense put pressure on the SRU defense to start the second half, recording three straight shots. The Rock forced two of the shots wide while Yoder added another save to maintain the 1-0 advantage for Slippery Rock.

SRU added to its lead when Minda joined the scoring effort in the 68th minute with
Miranda Gallucci providing the assist to extend The Rock advantage to 2-0.

SHU broke through the stout Slippery Rock defense in the 78th minute when Italia Biondi netted her sixth score of 2019 on a pass from Katie Kimmich to cut the SRU lead to 2-1.

Slippery Rock settled in defensively following the score and didn't allow a shot the rest of the way, securing the 2-1 road victory.
Â
SRU lead the way in total shots (14-10) and shots on goal (8-5) while Seton Hill held the advantage in corner kicks (6-4).
Yoder finished with four saves with a goal allowed in 90 minutes played for The Rock, marking the 12th game this season Yoder has allowed one goal or less.Â
Sofia Harrison led the way for SRU with two shots on goal while Minda, Ericson,
Kayla Swope,
Rachel Edge,
Emily Arnold and
Tyler Spence each added one.Â

Slippery Rock returns to action when it hosts Mercyhurst University for a PSAC West matchup at James Egli Field 4 p.m. Wednesday.
