CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's basketball team led wire-to-wire on the way to a 95-84 win on the road at California University Wednesday night for its seventh consecutive victory.

The Rock had their best shooting performance of the season, knocking down 15 3-pointers and shooting 60 percent from the field on the way to improving to 9-5 overall and 6-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference games. SRU has now won seven straight games and eight of its last nine and will host undefeated and third ranked Indiana (Pa.) Saturday at 3 p.m. for first place in the PSAC West.

California (Pa.) made 34 trips to the free throw line and knocked down 24 free throws to stay in the game, but couldn't keep pace with the hot-shooting visitors. The Vulcans dropped to 5-8 overall and 3-4 in PSAC games with the loss.

Slippery Rock's 15 made 3-pointers marked its most in a game against a Division II opponent since The Rock made 17 against Salem International during the 2009-10 season. The shooting onslaught was led by the duo of
John Warren II and
Jared Armstrong, who combined to shoot 11-of-15 from beyond the 3-point line.

Warren knocked down his first six attempts from the field and finished the night with a career-high 29 points to go along with five assists and two steals. He was 11-of-13 from the field and 6-of-8 from 3-point.

Armstrong added 17 points on a 6-of-9 effort from the field that included a 5-of-7 showing from beyond the 3-point line.

SRU also got 11 points, six rebounds and three steals from
Micah Till, who played limited minutes.
Will Bounds added nine points and nine rebounds,
Vinny Lasley scored eight points and
Julius Palmer scored seven points and blocked two shots.

The Rock finished the game shooting 60 percent from the field (36-of-60), 57.7 percent from 3-point (15-of-26) and 66.7 percent from the free throw line (8-of-12), while outrebounding Cal U by a 37-29 margin.

The Vulcans shot 43.5 percent from the floor (27-of-62), 28.6 percent from 3-point and 70.6 percent from the free throw line (24-of-34).

California got all of its scoring from four players. Brent Pegram scored a team-high 25 points, Zyan Collins added 23 points, Donte' Williams scored 19 points and Collin McAdams scored 17 points.

Slippery Rock will now turn its focus to a 3 p.m. home game Saturday against No. 3 Indiana (Pa.), which used a late rally Wednesday night at Mercyhurst to stay undefeated on the year.
