LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University softball team dropped two games at Lock Haven University Saturday afternoon.

Slippery Rock out-hit Lock Haven in game one, but left eight runners stranded and the Bald Eagles held on for a 6-2 win.

In game two, The Rock tallied multi-hit games from
Kailey Myers and
Alexa Guglielmino, but were unable to stop a 12-hit barrage from LHU as they won, 8-4.

With the two losses, SRU's record is now 13-10 and Lock Haven improves to 9-9.

GAME ONE: Lock Haven 6 – Slippery Rock 2
Myers went 3-for-3 with an RBI single while
Megan Brown and
Lauren Hawley both tallied two-hit performances in the loss.

Neither team could push across runs in the first inning, but in the top of the second, SRU jumped out to a 1-0 lead. Hawley doubled to start the inning and Myers ripped a single up the middle to drive her in.

LHU answered back with two in the bottom of the second. Casey Carpenter scored on a double steal, and Bree Hilty roped an RBI single to make it a 2-1 Lock Haven advantage.

The Bald Eagles tallied two more in the bottom of the third when they loaded the bases. Amanda Loar walked allowing Becca Caputo to score and then Olivia Hall scored on a passed ball.

Lock Haven pushed a pair across in the fourth inning when Caputo drove in two runs on an RBI single making it a 6-1 lead.

The Rock answered back in the top of the sixth when
McKenzie Garland singled through the left side to score
Cortney Claypoole and make it 6-2, but the Bald Eagles stifled Slippery Rock's offense for the rest of the contest en route to a 6-2 victory.

Brooke Dawson (4-7) took the loss going 3.0 innings surrendering six runs (five earned) on eight hits and punching out one.

Paige Flore pitched 3.0 solid innings of relief allowing one hit and striking out one batter.
Â
Bekah Slattery (3-4) earned the win for LHU hurling a complete-game surrendering just two runs on 10 hits and striking out nine.

GAME TWO: Lock Haven 8 – Slippery Rock 4
Becca Roesch, Brown and Guglielmino each drove in runs, but Lock Haven slashed 12 hits and won game two, 8-4.

In the first, Lock Haven jumped out to 1-0 lead when Madison Mathes roped an RBI triple that scored Caputo.
Â
The Bald Eagles registered three more runs in the bottom of the second to make it a 4-0 advantage.

SRU answered back in the third inning when Roesch singled to left and scored
Caitlyn MacKelvey.
Â
The Rock put another run on the board in the fourth inning when Guglielmino tripled and scored Garland cutting the deficit to two.

Lock Haven tallied one in the fourth inning and then put the game out of reach in the fifth inning when Traci Kromko roped a huge double with the bases loaded to make it an 8-2 advantage.

Slippery Rock would score one in the sixth and another in the seventh, but was unable to mount a comeback and ultimately fell to Lock Haven, 8-4.

Camie Shumaker (5-1) took the loss going 5.0 innings allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 12 hits while punching out six.
Â
Lock Haven's Kayla Gee (5-5) earned the win going 6.2 innings surrendering four runs (three earned) on nine hits while striking out six.

Slippery Rock is back in action Wednesday, March 28 when it plays Clarion in its home opener. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
