SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team lost a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division game to No. 17 Edinboro University, 74-52, Saturday at Morrow Field House.
Â
The loss snaps Slippery Rock's three-game winning streak, dropping its record to 10-8 overall and 8-5 in league games. Edinboro, which has been ranked in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's top-25 poll since Nov. 21, improves to 15-2 on the year overall and 11-2 in PSAC competition.
Â
The final score was not indicative of how close the game was for a large portion of Saturday's contest. Slippery Rock trailed Edinboro by just two points after the first quarter and by a mere six points, 38-32, at halftime. However, the Fighting Scots used a 17-3 run that stretched through the final seven minutes of the third quarter and the first three minutes of the fourth to open up a commanding 20-point lead en route to the eventual 22-point victory.

Â
Slippery Rock had trouble ever truly finding its stride offensively, finishing with a season-low 26.3 field goal percentage (15-for-57). SRU did excel at the foul line by going 20-for-25 (80 percent). In a game that featured the top two rebounding teams in the PSAC, both schools finished with 41 rebounds. Â
Â
Ciara Rosten proved tough for The Rock to defend inside. She finished Saturday's game with a near triple-double of 16 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks. Michelle Jahn scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Edinboro offensive attack.
Â
The Fighting Scots shot 43.1 percent (28-for-65) from the field overall, 33.3 percent (6-for-18) from deep and 66.7 percent (12-for-18) at the foul line.
