MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team dropped its final regular season game of the year to No. 3 Millersville University in overtime, 3-2, Saturday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play at Biemesderfer Stadium.
Slippery Rock finishes the regular season 10-8 overall and 5-5 in PSAC play. Millersville finishes the season 14-4 overall and 8-2 in PSAC play. The 10 wins are the most in a season for Slippery Rock since 1988.
The Rock's 10 wins is its highest total since the 1988 season, when the team finished 10-3-1. It's also Slippery Rock's first winning season since 1998, when the team finished 8-6. SRU has also secured a spot in the PSAC Tournament for the first time since 2014.

Brittany Morgan scored The Rock's two goals in the game, with
Alyssa Castle adding an assist. Erica Tarsi recorded two goals for the Marauders, with Annabelle Tierney scoring one of her own. Kathleen Bishop and Courtney Weaver added one assist apiece in the win.
Five players recorded shots for Slippery Rock.
Liz Wolfe led the team with six, followed by Page with two. Morgan,
Jordan Barnes and
Kayla Ulrich each added one shot apiece.
Wolfe and
Kayla Mack also recorded one defensive save apiece in the game. The defensive save put Mack at six on the year, which is tied for fourth in program history for a single season. She now has 19 in her career, which ranks second in school history. Wolfe's defensive save was her fourth of the season and the 13th of her career, which is tied for fourth in the SRU career record book.
As they have done all season, goalkeepers
Nicole Bream and
Maddie Murphy split time Saturday. Bream played the first half, stopping three shots and allowing no goals, before giving way to Murphy, who fended off 11 shots while giving up three goals, in the second half and overtime.
Page put SRU on the board first, giving The Rock a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute. In the second half of play, Millersville hit quick, with Tarsi scoring off a Bishop assist just 46 seconds into the half. But, The Rock answered back, making it 2-1 after Morgan scored off of a Castle assist in the 38th minute. Less than two minutes later, the Marauders evened the score after Tierney scored off of a Weaver assist. The game then headed to overtime, where Tarsi scored in the 78th minute to give Millersville the 3-2 victory.
Millersville goalkeeper Kylee Bair allowed two goals while recording three saves in more than 77 minutes of play.
For the game, Millersville led Slippery Rock in shots (33-11), shots on goal (19-6) and penalty corners (14-12).
Up next, sixth-seed Slippery Rock will travel to play third-seed East Stroudsburg in the first round of the PSAC Tournament 1 p.m. Tuesday at Whitenight Field in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
