SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team fell to sixth-ranked Millersville University 3-0 Wednesday afternoon in at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Â

The loss puts Slippery Rock's record at 2-3 while Millersville improves to 3-1.

Alyssa Castle recorded The Rock's only two shots on the day. Sophomore
Liz Wolfe registered her first defensive save of the season. Junior goalkeeper
Nicole Bream made two saves over 70 minutes played.
Millersville held advantages over Slippery Rock in total shots (10-2), shots on goal (6-0) and penalty corners (12-1).

Throughout the first half, both Millersville and Slippery Rock played tight defense as both teams entered the break having only allowed one shot, neither of which were on target.

Early in the 50th minute the Marauders finally broke through the Slippery Rock defense with a goal from Robyn Spatichia on a pass from the top of the zone off of a penalty corner from Carly Castle.

At 59:29 Margaret Thorwart would beat Bream on a pass flipped into the SRU zone from Spatichia to make it a 2-0 game.

The Marauders then found the goal one final time at 67:14 when Kathleen Bishop played a deflected shot from Thorwart's into the cage.
The Rock finishes up its two-game home stand against Bellarmine University at 12 p.m. Saturday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium in non-conference play.
