SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – A slow start from the Slippery Rock University men's basketball team and a hot start from Seton Hill University led the Griffins to an 87-72 victory in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division action Saturday from Morrow Field House.

The Griffins shot better than 70 percent from the field for most of the first half and ran out to a 42-22 halftime lead. The Rock shot less than 25 percent for most of the opening 20 minutes and could never crawl out of the big hole created early in the game, despite scoring 50 points in the second half. The closest SRU could get the margin in the second half was eight points.

The victory improves Seton Hill to 3-7 overall and 2-5 in PSAC action, while the loss snaps a three-game winning streak for Slippery Rock and drops The Rock to 7-5 overall and 3-4 in PSAC games.

Slippery Rock finished the game shooting 40.3 percent from the field (27-of-67), 14.3 percent from 3-point (1-of-7) and 73.9 percent from the free throw line (17-of-23). The Rock pulled down a 39-32 advantage in total rebounds, scored 50 points in the paint, eight points off turnovers and 12 second chance points off of 18 offensive rebounds.

Juwan Strothers led The Rock with a career-high effort off the bench, netting 29 points and providing the majority of the guard scoring as
Malcolm Richardson was in foul trouble most of the day.
Cornelius Brown recorded his eighth double-double of the year with 11 points and 16 rebounds.
Jordan Marrow added 13 points.

Seton Hill finished the game shooting 55.1 percent from the field (27-of-49), 27.8 percent from 3-point (5-of-18) and 75.7 percent from the free throw line (28-of-37). The Griffins tallied 24 points in the paint, 16 points off turnovers and seven second chance points off of seven offensive rebounds.

Kameron Taylor was lights out in the first half scoring 17 points and missing only two field goal attempts. He finished with a game-high 35 points to lead Seton Hill. Noah Davis added 19 points and Spencer Kasson finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocked shots.

Saturday's game marked the last conference game of the 2015 calendar year for Slippery Rock, which will break now for the holidays and return to action Dec. 30 with a non-conference game at home against Ohio University Eastern at 1 p.m.
