BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team lost to Indiana University in an exhibition game, 98-33, Sunday at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana.

A trio of Rock newcomers paced the SRU attack. Sophomore guard
Ciara Patterson scored a team-high 10 points while junior guard
Lexi Carpenter and sophomore guard
Krista Pietropola each added eight points. Pietropola just missed out on a double-double with eight rebounds as well.

In addition to grabbing five rebounds, freshman forward
Morgan Henderson chipped in four points. Sophomore forward
Mallory Heinle and senior guard
Erica Aiello rounded out The Rock's scorers with two points and one point, respectively. Aiello also added a team-high three assists.

Sorriyah Ranger all grabbed four rebounds. Ranger also made a game-high four block shots.

The Hoosiers, which compete in the NCAA Division I Big Ten Conference, jumped out to a 23-11 lead at the end of the first quarter before scoring 30 of 38 points in the second quarter to take a 53-19 lead into halftime. SRU held IU to 16 points in the third quarter, but the Hoosiers closed out the game by scoring 29 points and holding The Rock to just four points in the fourth quarter.

Tyra Buss led Indiana with 31 points. Amanda Cahill registered a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

With the preseason now over, Slippery Rock will turn its attention to regular season. SRU begins the 2015-16 campaign with two games in as many days when it hosts the Domino's PSAC-CIAA Challenge Nov. 13-14 at Morrow Field House. The Rock plays Virginia State 5:30 p.m. Nov. 13 and Chowan University 4 p.m. Nov. 14.
