Â
The win represents only the second time the Slippery Rock field hockey program has defeated Bloomsburg in the all-time series that spans 41 games dating back to 1983. The win also moves the 2014 Slippery Rock field hockey team into a tie for 4th place in program history with eight wins in a season, with four games remaining on the schedule.

The Huskies struck first midway through the first half as Whitney Kowski blasted a cross from the right side of the circle and found Samantha Peters, who redirected the cross into the back of the cage for a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute.
Â
Trailing 1-0, Shade snuck behind the visitor's defensive line before
Renee Rosenblum found her with a perfect lead-pass to set up a one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Shade took one touch and buried the shot in the back of the cage for the 1-1 equalizer in the 31st minute.
Â
Bloomsburg roared back with a dangerous shot just before the half, but senior defender
Baylee Childress stepped in to make a crucial defensive save to send the game into the break knotted at 1-1.
Â
The visiting-Huskies continued to pour pressure on offensively, but were bottled up by a swarming Slippery Rock defense.

Â
In the opening minutes of extra time, Bloomsburg turned up the pressure and appeared to have the game-winner in hand before Slippery Rock senior
Kelsey Gustafson made a critical sliding defensive save. The rebound caromed off of several bodies before finding the stick of another Huskies player, who delivered a swift strike that clanged off the goal post in a gut-wrenching series of events.
Â
Moments later, senior midfielder
Kaili Simmons found Shade for the improbable game-winner. Simmons fired a slick pass through a pair of defenders to a streaking Shade, who collected the pass, juked a defender and ripped a shot from the top of the circle past a charging keeper and into the goal for the 2-1 comeback victory.
Despite the loss, Bloomsburg finished with advantages in total shots (14-3), shots on goal (7-2) and penalty corners (9-3). The Rock received three vital defensive saves to limit the Huskies to a single goal.
