PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Freshman Melissa McCutcheon opened her collegiate career in impressive fashion Sunday as she won all four of her matches in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.

McCutcheon won both of her singles matches and then teammed with CMU's Michelle Guarino to win two doubles matches in the one-day, round-robin-like competition.

In singles matches, seniors Laura Handy (3-0) and Casey Runyan (2-0) were both unbeaten.

Runyan and partner Janelle Krantz were 1-1 in doubles matches, while Handy and partner Chelsea Gibson were 0-2.

Krantz was 1-1 in singles action, while Gibson and senior Jessica Hilborn were both 1-2 and sophomore Dunja Drmac was 0-3 in individual matches.

The Rock duo of Drmac and Hilborn were 1-1 in doubles action.

SRU won eight of 11 singles matches against Robert Morris University and was 2-5 in duels with the host school.

In doubles action, SRU was 1-3 vs. CMU and 1-0 vs. RMU.

The Rock opens its fall dual match schedule Wednesday at West Liberty State (W. Va.). The only home match this fall for the Green and White will be an Oct. 5 date with neighboring Grove City.
