ERIE, Pa. -- The 29th-ranked Slippery Rock University women's tennis team assured itself of a berth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference postseason tournament with an 8-1 win Tuesday night over PSAC-Western Division rival Clarion at the Westwood Racquet Club.
The Rock swept all six doubles matches and won the first two doubles matches to record the team victory and improve its season record to 17-3 overall, 3-1 in PSAC-West competition.
Clarion saw its record fall to 8-6 overall, 1-3 in division play.
The Rock returns to action April 16, when it will host Shippensburg in the final regular-season match of the season.
SRU, which is assured of the No. 2 postseason seed from the Western Division, will then host the division's No. 3 seed in a first-round conference playoff match April 21.
