BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Slippery Rock University senior Kayla Blackburn recorded wins in both her singles and doubles women's tennis matches Sunday to set a new school record for career victories and also lead the 26th-ranked Rock to an 8-1 win over visiting Millersville at Brady's Run Park.

Sunday's wins improved Blackburn's career victories total to 179 and moved her two triumphs higher than the previous mark held by Jessica Bungo.

Blackburn and partner Jessica Hilborn claimed an 8-3 victory in the No. 1 doubles match Sunday before the Alum Bank native and Chestnut Ridge High School graduate scored a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 1 singles match.

The Rock won all three doubles matches and the top five single matches Sunday to record its fifth straight team victory and improve its season record to 14-2.

SRU hosts No. 8-ranked California U. of Pa. in a 3 p.m. match Wednesday and entertains Mercyhurst in a 4 p.m. match Friday. Both of those matches will count in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division standings.
