CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- The 26th-ranked Slippery Rock University women's tennis team won four of six singles matches Sunday to record its 12th win of the season, a 5-4 decision over hosting NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional rival University of Charleston.
The Rock trailed by a 2-1 score at the end of doubles action before it roared back to improve its season record to 12-2.
Junior
Jessica Hilborn recorded tiebreaker wins in both her singles and doubles matches to lead the winning effort. She won the No. 4 singles match by identical 7-6 (7-1) scores and teamed with sophomore
Samantha Blackburn two in win the No. 2 doubles match by a 9-8 (7-2) score.
Hilborn's singles win proved to be the deciding point in the team match.
The Rock returns to action Saturday, when it will host Holy Family at 1 p.m. in the first of three matches scheduled in a two-day period. SRU entertains Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rivals Millersville and Shippensburg the following day.
