ORLANDO, Fla. -- The 27th-ranked Slippery Rock University women's tennis team breezed to a 9-0 win Monday morning over King's College of Tennessee in the opening match of SRU's spring-break schedule.
The Rock (7-1) lost only seven games in the nine matches.
Juniors
Laura Handy and
Jessica Hilborn led The Rock attack as they recorded an 8-0 win in their No. 2 doubles match and then chalked up "double-bagel" 6-0, 6-0 wins in their respective singles matches.
Senior
Kayla Blackburn also won an "0-and-0" decision in her No. 1 singles match, while junior
Casey Runyan blanked her No. 5 singles foe.
Rounding out the list of winners by shutout were The Rock's No. 3 doubles team of sophomore
Samantha Blackburn and senior
Lara Rizzi.
