WEXFORD, Pa. -- Junior
Jessica Hilborn won a three-set decision in the No. 3 singles match Friday night to provide the winning point as 26th-ranked Slippery Rock University beat visiting Walsh (Ohio) University, 5-3, in women's tennis action at the Oxford North Tennis Club.
Hilborn (pictured above) bounced back from a 6-3 loss in the first set to win 6-4 and 6-2 in the second and third sets and give The Rock its 10th win in 12 matches this season.
Hilborn, who teamed with sophomore
Samantha Blackburn to record an 8-6 win in the No. 2 doubles match, was one of three Rock players to have a hand in two victories.
The Rock's No. 1 doubles team of senior
Kayla Blackburn and junior
Laura Handy won an 8-3 decision. Blackburn then claimed a 7-6 (3), 4-6, 6-1 victory in the No. 1 singles match, while Handy reigned by a 6-2, 6-1 score in the No. 2 singles match.
The Rock's next match is March 21 at West Virginia State. SRU takes on Charleston (W. Va.) the following day in another road match.
