MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The 29th-ranked Rock chalked up its fourth win in as many matches Tuesday evening when it handed hosting Allegheny College a 7-2 setback in non-conference action.
Kayla Blackburn and
Laura Handy led The Rock effort with a combined win (8-2) in the No. 1 doubles match and 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1 wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, respectively.
Samantha Blackburn and
Jessica Hilborn won the NO. 2 doubles match by an 8-3 score. Blackburn then won the No. 3 singles match by a 6-4, 6-3 score, while Hilborn reigned at No. 4 by 6-4, 6-2 scores.
Rounding out The Rock wins was a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win by
Lara Rizzi at No. 6 singles.
Allegheny won the No. 3 doubles match by a 9-7 score and also won at No. 5 singles 3-6, 6-0, 6-3.
The Rock's next action will be this weekend (Saturday and Sunday), when the Green and White will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's East Regional in Bloomsburg.
