SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The 23rd-ranked Rock rolled to a 9-0 win over visiting Indiana U. of Pa. in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action Wednesday evening.
Highlighting the winning effort were a "double-bagel" (6-0, 6-0) win by
Casey Runyan in the No. 5 singles match, a 6-1, 6-0 victory by
Lara Rizzi in the No. 4 singles duel and a 6-1, 6-1 win by
Christina Rhodes in the No. 6 singles match.
Wednesday's win, the 16th in 17 matches this season, was dedicated to Rock junior
Kayla Blackburn and her sister, freshman
Samantha Blackburn.
The Blackburn sisters, who regularly play No. 1 singles/No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles/No. 2 doubles, respectively, for The Rock, missed the match after the death of their mother Monday.
