SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- Jessica Hilborn recorded double-bagel wins in both her singles and doubles matches Saturday to propel the 23rd-ranked Rock to a 9-0 whitewashing of hosting Shippensburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action.
The Rock has now won eight straight matches and owns a sparkling 13-1 record this season. Shippensburg saw its season record fall to 2-8 in the first PSAC-West duel of the season for both teams.
Hilborn and No. 2 doubles partner
Samantha Blackburn strolled to an 8-0 win before Hilborn blanked her No. 4 singles foe 6-0, 6-0.
SRU's No. 1 doubles team of
Kayla Blackburn and
Laura Handy rang up an 8-1 win, while the No. 3 duo of
Lara Rizzi and
Christina Rhodes rolled to an 8-1 win.
In singles action,
Kayla Blackburn, Handy and Rhodes all recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins in the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 matches.
Samantha Blackburn won a 6-1, 6-2 decision at No. 3 singles, while Rizzi recorded a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5.
The Rock's next action will take place April 4-5, when SRU will travel to Bloomsburg for the Bloomsburg Duals.
