No. 23 Rock takes 5-0 decision over the University of Charleston

Wednesday's win marks the fifth straight for The Rock over spring break

Hilton Head Island, S.C.- The Rock continued their spring break winning streak with an 5-0 win over the University of Charleston. The match was scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. but was delayed two hours due to rain.
 
When play began the match was shortened to a race to five.
 
The Rock went 3-0 in doubles play and 2-0 in singles action to take the match 5-0. The win moves SRU to 11-1 on the year and 5-0 over spring break.
 
SRU's No. 1 doubles team of Kayla Blackburn and Laura Handy started the match down 7-2 and came all the way back to take a 9-7 decision. The No. 2 duo of Samantha Blackburn and Jessica Hilborn won an 8-1 decision and the No. 3 team of Lara Rizzi and Chelsea Gibson completed the sweep winning 8-6.

In singles action the only two to finish on the day were the No. 3 single of Samantha Blackburn and the No. 5 single of Lara Rizzi. S. Blackburn won her match 6-0, 6-0 and Rizzi finished with a 6-3, 6-1 decision.
 
The Rock's next match is set for Thursday,March 13, at 8 a.m. when they take on Upper Iowa University at the Beach and Tennis Resort.
