BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- The Rock's Blackburn sisters lived up to their billing as two of the top players in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference as they excelled in the conference's Individual Championships hosted by Bloomsburg University.

Kayla Blackburn and her younger sister, sophomore
Samantha Blackburn, earned conference runner-up honors in doubles competition by winning a pair of matches before they dropped an 8-3 decision in the finals Sunday.
The Blackburns received a first-round bye, then blanked Indiana's sisters tandem of Alyssa and Emily Shurba by an 8-0 score in quarterfinal action.
In the semifinals, the second-seeded Blackburns turned aside East Stroudsburg's Katie D'Ambrosio and Jamie Ferrigno by an 8-3 score.
California's duo of Helena VanEysendeyk and Axelle Fernandez won an 8-3 decision in the finals.
The Blackburn sisters both advanced to the semifinal round in singles competition. All three of Kayla's matches went the full three sets, while Samantha earned the right to play in four matches.
Kayla, the No. 2 seed and a recipient of the ensuing first-round bye, beat Clarion's Kassie Leuscher by 3-6, 6-0, 10-3 scores in the second round. She then met SRU teammate
Laura Handy in the quarterfinals and won a 3-6, 6-1, 10-6 decision.
In the semifinals, Kayla lost an 0-6, 7-5, 10-7 decision to third-seeded Rhoini Das of Kutztown.
Samantha opened tournament play with a win over West Chester's Maria Kostaris, then upset fourth-seeded Katie Hasyn of Bloomsburg in the second round. Scores of those matches were not available.
Samantha earned a berth in the semifinals with a 6-2, 6-3 win over East Stroudsburg's Amanda Kaufman before she fell to eventual champion Alina Stanila of California (match score not reported).

Kayla Blackburn in the quarterfinals, scored a "double-bagel" (6-0, 6-0) win over West Chester's Claire Afrassiabian and scored a 6-0, 6-1 win over D'Ambrosia of East Stroudsburg.
The PSAC Individual Championships were the final event of the fall portion of The Rock's 2008-09 schedule. The Green and White were unbeaten in five dual matches.
