Rock scores trifecta at Indiana (Pa.) tournament

Indiana, Pa. - The Rock won nine of 10 games over the weekend en route to a sweep of three games in the Indiana U. of Pa. tournament.

SRU downed Seton Hill 3-1 (26-30, 30-16, 30-13, 30-18) Friday night, then whitewashed Fairmont State (30-23, 30-16, 30-12) and West Virginia Wesleyan (30-20, 30-22, 30-20) on Saturday to improve its season record to 8-3.

Four players recorded a total of 30 or more kills in the the matches, led by Jen Blasko with 36. Anastasia Urbanik added 31, while Andrea Campbell and Louise Schultz had 30 each.

Blasko also recorded 37 digs, seven blocks and five service aces; Campbell had 28 digs; Schultz had five blocks and three aces and Urbanik had 36 digs, seven aces and five blocks.

Keira Peoples chipped in 17 kills and 15 blocks for SRU, while freshman setter Anna Bixler handed out 68 assists and had seven aces.

The Rock opens Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action on Tuesday, when it hosts Clarion in a 7 p.m. match in Morrow Field House. That will be the first home game of the season for the Green and White.
