Rock unbeaten streak snapped by 2-1 OT loss at California (Pa.)

California, Pa. - Hosting California U. of Pa. scored in the 100th minute of action Wednesday afternoon to hand The Rock a 2-1 overtime loss and snap SRU's eight-game unbeaten streak.

Ed Mocarsky scored in the 44th minute off assists from Mitchell Walters and Iain Langstone to tie the score at 1-1 and ultimately send the game into overtime.

Neither team scored a goal in the second 45-minute stanza after each had put up one tally in the opening half.

Rock goalie Brett Lelko was credited with 10 saves as California outshot the Green and White by an 18-10 margin.

Wednesday's game paralleled the teams' first meeting, when the squads battled to a 0-0 stalemate in double overtime August 29 on Bob DiSpirito Field at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium in Slippery Rock.

The Rock faces a stiff challenge as its seeks to start another postiive streak; SRU travels to defending PSAC champion and 12th-ranked (NSCAA) East Stroudsburg for a noon game.

That game will be the second of four straight road games The Rock will play before returning home Oct. 13 to entertain Kutztown.
