Shepherdstown, W. Va. - Anna Bixler handed out 145 assists and had 46 digs in her first collegiate action over the weekend as The Rock opened its 2007 season with a pair of wins and a pair of losses in the Ram Rumble hosted by Shepherd University.

The Rock lost to Wayne State of Nebraska 3-0 and beat Shepherd 3-0 in action Friday, then lost to St. Edwards of Texas 3-1 and beat Elizabeth City State 2-0 on Saturday.

Game scores of the respective matches were (SRU score listed first):

Wayne State -- 29-31, 13-30, 18-30

Shepherd -- 30-15, 30-22, 30-16

St. Edward's -- 30-24, 29-31, 25-30, 23-30

Elizabeth City State -- 30-14, 30-12, 30-22

Jen Blasko recorded 57 kills and 53 digs in the four matches for The Rock, while Anastasia Urbanik added 43 digs, 31 kills and 15 service aces.

Andrea Campbell had 42 kills and four digs; Brittany Spangler had 53 digs and Louise Schultz recorded 23 kills for SRU.

The Rock returns to action next weekend, when it will compete in the California U. of Pa. tournament. SRU will meet West Liberty State and Gannon on Friday and Northern Kentucky and West Virginia State on Saturday.
