Nov. 3, 2007

Final Stats

Slippery Rock, Pa. - Louise Schultz led a four-pronged attack Saturday afternoon that carried The Rock to a 3-1 win over visiting Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rival Indiana U. of Pa..

The 30-19, 28-30, 30-11, 30-13 win in SRU's regular-season finale gave The Rock a 22-14 overall record and a 3-7 PSAC-West mark.

The Rock will now wait anxiously to see if it will receive a berth in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional tournament.

The Rock was ranked eighth in the most recent regional poll. The top eight teams in the final poll of the season (Nov. 12) will earn regional tournament berths, but three of those berths are set aside for Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and PSAC postseason tournaments.

The top eight spots in the current Atlantic Regional poll are filled by PSAC teams. Lees-McRae of the CACC is ranked ninth. No CIAA teams are ranked in the 10-team regional poll released Oct. 24.

The Rock seeks a third straight trip to regional competition.
