Rock splits four matches in Wheeling Jesuit tournament

Wheeling, W. Va. - Louise Schultz's solid all-around effort led The Rock to a 2-2 record in the Wheeling Jesuit tournament last weekend.

Schultz recorded 85 assists, 52 kills, 31 digs, 11 blocks and nine service aces in the four matches.

Jen Blasko added 47 kills, 75 digs and six service aces; Alexa Erossy contributed 38 kills, 73 digs and three aces and Anastasia Urbanik had 30 kills, 65 digs, eight blocks and six service aces.

Anna Bixler handed out 90 assists, Andrea Campbell had 33 digs and Keira Peoples recorded 25 kills.

The Rock opened the weekend with a 3-1 (24-30, 30-23, 30-23, 30-16) win over Alderson-Broaddus (W. Va.), followed by a 3-2 (16-30, 30-20, 30-28, 27-30, 15-12) loss to Charleston (W. Va.) in action Friday.

Saturday, The Rock beat West Virginia State 3-2 (30-22, 26-30, 10-30, 30-21, 15-11) and lost to Wheeling Jesuit 3-0 (30-23, 30-13, 30-25).

The Rock now owns a 13-10 overall record as it prepares for Tuesday's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division match at Clarion (7 p.m. start).

SRU will then compete in the Tiffin (Ohio) tournament Oct. 12-13 before returning home to entertain PSAC-West rival Edinboro in a 7 p.m. match Oct. 16 in Morrow Field House.
