Alison Hindley scored two goals Saturday afternoon to lead The Rock to a 3-1 win over fifth-ranked West Chester in a battle of NCAA Division II Northeast Regional rivals on Bob DiSpirito Field at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
The win improved The Rock's overall record to 14-3-1. West Chester fell to to 12-2-2.
West Chester entered the game ranked fifth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II poll and first in the NCAA Northeast Regional ranking.
SRU was tied for third in the regional poll and received votes in the NSCAA national poll.
Danielle Cooper gave The Rock a 1-0 lead when she converted an assist from Jaime Wilson into the first goal of the game with 6:20 gone in the game.
Hindley made it 2-0 in the 16th minute of action when she headed home a corner kick assist from Ashley Paganie.
Hindley then made it 3-0 off an assist by McGrath in the 56th minute of action.
The assist was the 25th of McGrath's Rock career and moved her into a tie for the school record.
West Chester averted a shutout with an unassisted goal by Rita Alton in the 68th minute of action.
The Rock outshot West Chester by a 16-13 margin. Rock goalie Lauren McManus was credited with five saves.
SRU will close out its regular-season schedule with a Wednesday afternoon game at Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rival Lock Haven. A win in that game would give this year's Rock squad a share of the school record for single-season wins.
The Rock will then be idle until Nov. 2, when the PSAC-West regular-season champions will host a conference playoff semifinal game.
Saturday's game was the regular-season finale for three Rock seniors: McGrath, Wilson and defender Kristin Mikolajczyk.
The trio has helped The Rock record a .734 winning percentage, win two PSAC titles, earn five conference playoff berths and compete in two NCAA regional tournaments.
