Courtney Hoover came off the bench to score two goals Monday and lead the 22nd-ranked Rock to a 4-0 win over visiting Wheeling Jesuit.
The non-conference shutout win on Bob DiSpirito Field at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium was The Rock's second vs. a West Virginia foe in the span of three days. SRU clobbered Charleston 6-0 on Saturday.
The win improved SRU's overall record to 12-3-1; Wheeling Jesuit fell to 14-4.
The Rock and Cardinals battled on even, scoreless terms for the first 69 minutes of action before SRU scored four times in the final 21 minutes.
Hoover converted an assist from Shelly Regner into what proved to be the game-winning goal at the 69:30 mark to open the scoring parade.
The Rock got an "own goal" in the 78th minute when the ball deflected off a Wheeling Jesuit defender and into the goal.
Alison Hindley extended The Rock's lead to 3-0 off a corner-kick assist from Ashley Paganie in the 85th minute.
Less than a minute later, Hoover deposited a pass from Juliana Howell in the back of the net for the final goal of the game.
The Rock outshot WJU by a 26-10 margin in total shots and 8-4 in shots on goal.
Both Rock goalie Lauren McManus and Cardinals netminder Lauren Lewicki were credited with four saves.
The Rock returns to action at 7 p.m. Thursday, when it will host Clarion in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division contest in Thompson Stadium.
The Rock can clinch the PSAC-West title and a first-round bye in the conference playoffs with a win Thursday.
