Hindley's hat trick leads #22 Rock to 6-0 win over Charleston (W. Va.)

Slippery Rock, Pa. - Alison Hindley recorded a hat trick Saturday afternoon as the 22nd-ranked Rock ended a three-game winless skid in a big way with a 6-0 whitewashing of visiting Charleston (W. Va.) in non-conference action on James W. Egli Soccer Field.

Danielle Cooper scored what proved to be the game-winning goal off an assist from Mary-Lynn Hadley in the fifth minute of action before Hindley scored three straight goals.

Hindley's first tally came in the 40th minute and was unassisted. Her second goal was recorded in the 48th minute off a corner-kick assist from Meghan McGrath. Hindley closed out her day's work with a 53rd-minute goal off an assist from Courtney Hoover.

Hoover picked up her second assist of the game on SRU's fifth goal when she set up Linda Schirmeister's 69th-minute tally.

Mallory Neubert closed out the scoring with a 72nd-minute goal off an assist from Hadley.

The Rock totally dominated the game, as evidenced by the fact that SRU outshot Charleston by a 35-3 margin.

Rock goalies Lauren McManus (52-plus minutes) and Sarah Lacy (37-plus minutes) combined were not called upon to make a save en route to recording the shutout.

The Rock returns to action at 3 p.m. Monday, when it will host Wheeling Jesuit in a non-conference game.
