Jeremy Deighton and Greg Hutton each scored a goal Saturday morning to lead The Rock to a 2-0 win over visiting Kutztown in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Bob DiSpirito Field at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
With the win, The Rock regained third place in the PSAC standings.
SRU is now 8-5-2 overall, 7-3-2 in PSAC action. Kutztown fell to 1-15 overall, 0-14 in conference play.
Deighton scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 11th minute of action off assists from Nick Christy and Steve Perri.
Hutton added an insurance goal in the 30th minute, assisted by Perri.
The Rock outshot the Golden Bears by a 21-11 margin in the game.
Three Rock goalies combined efforts to record the shutout. Greg Blum and Chris Cook each recorded three saves, while Brett Lelko rejected one shot.
Blum started in goal and played the entire first half before Cook and Lelko split time in the final 45 minutes.
The Rock's next game is Tuesday at Shippensburg (1 p.m. start). SRU then closes out its home schedule with a 3 p.m. game next Saturday vs. West Chester.
