Slippery Rock, Pa. -
Rock seniors Erika McKenna and Ashley Michaux played their final home match of the season Thursday and led SRU to a 9-0 whitewashing of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action.
The win improved SRU's season record to 13-6 and its PSAC-West mark to 1-1 and pretty much assured The Rock of a berth in the PSAC playoffs.
McKenna won a 6-3, 6-1 decision in the No. 6 match Thursday, while Michaux had a hand in two wins -- an 8-0 waltz by her and partner Kayla Blackburn in the No. 1 doubles match and a 6-1, 6-3 victory in the No. 2 singles match.
Kelli Parnell and Sarah Karagianis, after trailing 5-4, won the No. 2 doubles match by an 8-6 score, while The Rock's No. 3 tandem of Lara Rizzi and Cristina Rhodes rolled to an 8-0 victory.
Blackburn then scored a double-bagel, 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 1 singles match; Parnell recorded a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win in No. 3 singles; Rizzi won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 and Karagianis won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 5.
The Rock closes out its PSAC-West schedule on Thursday with a 3 p.m. match at Shippensburg.
