The Rock concluded its spring-break trip to South Carolina with a convincing 8-1 win Friday over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and East Regional rival East Stroudsburg.
The win gives SRU a 7-5 record as it prepares for a March 25 match at Mercyhurst.
Kayla Blackburn, normally SRU's No. 2 player, recorded her sixth straight win as the No. 1 player when she chalked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory on Friday.
Blackburn stepped into the spotlight position in the absence of Ashley Michaux, who did not make the trip.
Kelli Parnell won the No. 2 singles match by 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5) scores; Lara Rizzi won a 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 3; Sarah Karagianis recorded a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4 and Cristina Rhodes won a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 6 singles for The Rock.
Prior to the singles matches, The Rock swept the doubles matches.
The No. 1 team of Blackburn and Rizzi won an 8-3 decision, the No. 2 team of Parnell and Karagianis recorded an 8-4 win and the No. 3 team of Erika McKenna and Rhodes won an 8-1 decision.
