Hilton Head Island, S.C. - Kayla Blackburn recorded a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 1 singles match Thursday afternoon to account for The Rock's only point in an 8-1 loss to NCAA Division II East Regional rival Bloomsburg.

Blackburn, usually The Rock's No. 2 singles player, is unbeaten in five matches as the No. 1 singles player on the spring-break trip. She stepped into the spotlight position in the absence of Ashley Michaux, who did not make the trip.

Blackburn and No. 1 doubles partner Lara Rizzi came close to record a second Rock win but wound up dropping a 9-7 decision.

Thursday's loss dropped The Rock's season record to 6-5 as SRU prepares for the final match of its spring-break trip to South Carolina, an 8 a.m. duel with regional foe East Stroudsburg.
