Jessica Schake scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds and KellyAnn Staudinger added 10 points as The Rock made the region's No. 3-ranked team work overtime for a victory Monday night.
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division leader California U. of Pa. (18-4, 7-0) overcame a slow start to record a 57-54 extra-stanza decision over The Rock (11-11, 3-4).
The Rock is now tied with Lock Haven for fourth place in the seven-team division.
SRU will host Lock Haven (14-6, 3-4) in a 1 p.m. game on Saturday in Morrow Field House after travelling to second-place Edinboro (16-5, 4-2) on Wednesday.
Lock Haven recorded an 81-69 win over Indiana (15-7, 4-3) on Monday, while Clarion (11-11, 2-5) beat Shippensburg (10-12, 1-6) by a 73-61 score.
The Rock was in control of Monday's game in the early going as it scored 17 of the final 22 points in the first half to break a 4-4 tie and take a 21-9 lead into intermission.
SRU continued its run at the start of the second half as the guests scored the first five points to take a 26-9 lead before California began its comeback.
The Vulcans quickly put together a 20-6 run to trim the margin to three, 32-29, with 10 minutes left before The Rock was able to temporarily stop the rally.
California eventually completed its comeback and took the lead at 47-46 with just over a minute left to play in regulation time. That was the Vulcans's first lead since 4-2.
Schake made one of two free throws with just less than a minute left to tie the score at 47-47 and ultimately send the game into overtime.
Dana Stewart sank one of two free throws to put The Rock up by one, 48-47, before California scored seven unanswered points and took a 53-48 lead.
Schake scored from inside with about two minutes left and Kristen Bonner sank a pair of free throws to trim the margin to one point, 53-52, with 15 seconds left.
California went back up by three before Staudinger scored on an offensive rebound to trim the difference back to one, 55-54.
The Vulcans iced the win with a pair of free throws in the final seconds of the overtime period.
Monday's game was the second overtime contest of the season for The Rock. SRU lost a 64-52 extra-period decision to West Liberty State in Morrow Field House on Nov. 29.
