Nikki Presto and Jessica Schake scored 11 points each Friday night to lead The Rock in a season-opening, losing effort vs. hosting Bellarmine.
The Knights never trailed in the game en route to a 76-56 win in the opening game of the United Electric Tip-Off Classic.
The Rock will seek its first win of the season Saturday when it takes on Fayetteville State in a 5 p.m. game, the second of three tilts in the Classic.
Amanda Chojnacki grabbed a team-high six rebounds for SRU, while Schake had five rebounds.
The Rock fell behind by a 7-0 margin to open the game, but battled back to tie the score at 8-8 and 10-10.
Bellarmine pulled out to a 21-12 lead at the midway mark of the first half, only to see SRU respond with an 8-1 run in the next four minutes to close the margin to 22-20 with six minutes left.
The hosts spurted a third time to take a 36-27 lead into intermission and never led by less than six points in the final 20 minutes.
Unofficial statistics showed that The Rock shot 42 percent (21 of 50) from the field, 28.6 percent (4-14) from 3-point range and 62.5 percent 10-16) from the foul line.
