Late score lifts Shippensburg past Rock, 28-21

Slippery Rock, Pa. - Five Rock turnovers resulted in 14 Shippensburg points, which spelled defeat for SRU as the visiting Red Raiders (3-3, 1-0) rang up a 28-21 win in the SRU Hall of Fame Day game on Bob DiSpirito Field at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.

The loss snapped a four-game win streak for SRU, wich now owns a 4-2 overall record and a 1-1 mark in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action.

The mistake-marred loss also overshadowed a 121-yard rushing effort by The Rock's Travis Sarver. It was Sarver's first 100-plus-yard performance of the season.

Rock quarterback Nate Crookshank ran for two touchdowns & and 17 yards), threw a 13-yard pass to Terry Grossetti to account for the other Rock TD and completed 18 of 23 passes for 141 yards. But he also threw three interceptions and was charged with one of The Rock's two lost fumbles.

Colin Golden caught seven passes for 48 yards and Luke Wetzel had four catches for 51 yards to lead The Rock receiving corp.

Defensively, The Rock was led by Jared Palmer's 8.5 tackles and Cory Lacek's 2.5 tackles for loss.

The Rock travels to PSAC-West col-leader California U. of Pa. for a 3 p.m. game next Saturday.
