Final Stats
Slippery Rock, Pa. -
Clint Forsha recorded a sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery on the final play of the game Saturday afternoon to ensure a 24-21 overtime win by The Rock over Edinboro in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action on Bob DiSpirito Field at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
Saturday's win was the 126th recorded by 19th-year Rock head coach Dr. George Mihalik and ties him for the top spot on SRU's career wins chart.
The win was also the first in five overtime games played by The Rock.
Forsha's game-ending play came three plays after Ryan Daniel booted a 41-yard field goal on The Rock's only overtime possession.
Together, the game-ending, 1-2 punch combination thrown by Daniel and Forsha propelled The Rock to its second straight victory and sixth in nine games this season (third in five PSAC-West outings).
Edinboro, which fell to 4-5 overall and 1-3 in PSAC-West action, sent the game into overtime with a touchdown in the final minute of regulation time.
Forsha finished the day with seven total tackles, four tackles for loss (-18 yards) and two quarterback sacks (-12 yards), while Daniel was 3-for-3 on extra-point kicks in addition to his game-winning field goal.
Other players who had stellar efforts:
Travis Sarver rushed for 72 yards and two TDs (runs of 3 and 2 yards);
Nate Crookshank completed 16 of 28 passes for 214 yards and one TD;
Colin Golden had eight pass receptions for 57 yards;
Paul Favers had three receptions for 54 yards, including a 42-yard connection with Crookshank that accounted for SRU's first score of the game;
Jared Palmer recorded a team-high 11 tackles, including two tackles for loss (-9 yards);
Cory Lacek had six tackles, two tackles for loss (-11 yards) and one QB sack (-9 yards);
The 42-yard TD pass from Crookshank to Favers with 12:14 left in the second quarter erased a 7-0 Edinboro lead and tied the score at 7-7.
Sarver then put SRU on top by a 14-7 score with his three-yard TD jaunt.
Edinboro tied the score at 14-14 midway through the third stanza, before Sarver's two-yard TD run with 2:13 left in the period put SRU back on top, 21-14.
The Rock will have little time to celebrate Saturday's win as it will seek to close out its PSAC-West schedule on a winning note and in front of a national TV audience Thursday night when it travels to archrival Indiana U. of Pa. for a 7 p.m. game.
The game will be televised live by CSTV and simulcast by Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh. The game can also be seen via DirectTV Channel 610 and The Dish Network Channel 152.
SRU closes out its regular-season schedule with a 1 p.m. home date Nov. 11 with West Chester.
