Amanda Chojnacki scored a team-high 14 points Wednesday night to lead The Rock to its second straight win and fourth triumph in the last five outings, a 60-39 waltz past hosting Clarion in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action.
Chojnacki was one of three Rock players who finished with double-figure scoring totals. Angela Greaser chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds and Dana Stewart added 12 points in a substitute role.
Amber McFeely handed out six assists, while Jessica Schake had five assists and nine rebounds.
The Rock is now 10-9 overall and 2-2 in PSAC-West action.
Clarion fell to 10-8 overall, 1-2 in the PSAC-West.
The Rock will host Shippensburg at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
SRU benefitted from an icy-cold foul shooting effort by the Golden Eagles. The top free-throw-shooting team in the conference prior to the game, Clarion sank only four of 13 charity tosses against The Rock.
The Rock was only slightly better at 4-for-9 and 44.4% from the foul line.
SRU led by nine points, 26-17, at halftime and enjoyed a double-digit advantage for most of the second half.
An 11-0 Rock run during a five-minute period late in the game pushed the margin to 20 points, 55-35, with 2:10 left.
Clarion's point total was the lowest allowed by a Rock women's basketball team since the second game of the 2001-02 season, when SRU held Erskine to only 38 points.
