Slippery Rock, Pa. -
Ed Mocarsky scored the game-winning goal with 3:25 left to play Wednesday to give The Rock a 2-1 win over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference preseason favorite Lock Haven on James W. Egli Soccer Field.
The goal, scored off a double assist from Nick Christy and Shaun Reid, was Mocarsky's second of the season.
The combination of The Rock's win and an East Stroudsburg loss to Millersville moved SRU -- which evened its overall record at 2-2 -- into a four-way tie for first-place in the PSAC.
SRU, ESU, Bloomsburg and Shippensburg are all tied for the top spot with 2-1 conference records.
Wednesday's win will go down in the record books as a come-from-behind victory as Lock Haven took a 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute of action.
Gary Saunders tied the score at 1-1 in the 76th minute when he converted a double assist from Dave Keller and Justin Hollm into a tally.
The goal was Saunders' second of the season; he shares the team lead with Mocarsky.
The Rock outshot LHU by a 12-11 margin; Rock goalie Pat Passewitz was called upon to make only two saves.
SRU travels to PSAC rival West Chester for a 1:30 p.m. game on Saturday before it returns home to entertain Shippensburg in a 4 p.m. game on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
