Rock drops 7-2 decision at California, Pa.

March 31, 2005

California, Pa. - Ashley Michaux and Erika McKenna won their singles matches Thursday afternoon to account for the only Rock points in a 7-2 loss at Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rival California U. of Pa.

Michaux won a 6-1, 6-3 decision in the No. 1 singles match to improve her season record to 12-3.

McKenna won a 6-2, 6-2 verdict at No. 4 singles.

The Rock women were scheduled to compete in the Bloomsburg Duals competition this weekend (April 1-3), but that event has been cancelled.

SRU is thus idle until Tuesday, when they host PSAC-West rival Indiana U. of Pa. in a 3:30 p.m. match.

Thursday's win dropped The Rock's season record to 4-8. California improved its record to 14-4.

The Rock is currently ranked sixth in the ITA Northeast Region poll, while California is 10th.
