The Rock won its first contest of the 2004-05 season Sunday when it defeated NCAA Division II East Regional foe Holy Family College 9-0 to improve its overall record to 1-4.
SRU answered its 9-0 loss to Presbyterian in the spring trip opener in Hilton Head Island, S.C. by handing out a 9-0 defeat of it's own.
The No. 1 doubles tandem of Ashley Michaux and Ashley Greene won 8-0 to get The Rock off to a hot start Sunday.
Kate Ingram and Erika McKenna won their doubles match 8-4, and Jennifer Hutchinson and Heather Webb shutout their opponents 8-0 to help The Rock sweep the first three points of the match.
Michaux and Greene continued their domination in individual play; both players shutout their foes, 6-0, 6-0 to extend the lead to 5-0 and ensure SRU of a victory.
Kate Ingram (6-1, 6-0), Erika McKenna (6-0, 6-3) and Jennifer Hutchinson (6-1, 6-2) won their matches in straight sets.
Heather Webb outdueled her opponent 12-10 in the super breaker set after splitting the first two sets, 7-5, 3-6 to seal The Rock shutout.
The Rock will play its third match in as many days in Hilton Head Island Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. when it takes on Greensboro College.
